The team in their new field.

The CORE Butte Lynx made history today at 4:00 PM as they played their first soccer game on their brand-new home field, and they made it count with a 7 – 0 victory over the visiting Portola Tigers.
The game kicked off fast, with CORE Butte’s Adrik Dyer scoring first just two minutes in. The team went on to score three more goals and multiple close shots before the first quarter, giving CORE a comfortable lead early on.
But it didn’t stop there, our players went right back to work, scoring two goals to add to the tally, and our goalie saved a few close calls. The first half ended with a 5 – 0 score.
In the second half, the defense stayed strong, and the offense kept pushing. It brought more of the same. The Tigers fought hard but couldn’t find a way through CORE Butte’s defense. Another two goals were scored by the Lynx, with Adrik sealing the score just as he started it.
The match officially ended at 5:40 PM with the Lynx walking away victorious. Their losing streak was broken, and their season record improved to 3 – 5.
Players said the win was made even sweeter by playing on their new turf field.
“It was nice we won, of course, and this field is so much nicer for better plays,” said Ben Feather. “The turf is much better and flat, unlike the bumpy fields that would injure our players.”
Ashlyn Hayes added, “It’s nice to have a field that feels like home.”
The Lynx will look to build on the momentum as the season continues.
Go Lynx!
