Do you have a dazzling Halloween costume ready to go? Wish to turn heads? Earn bragging rights? Or maybe just win some money? If you answered yes to any of these questions (though hopefully not just the last one), then lend your attention to the CORE Insider’s Costume Contest, happening Thursday, October 30th, outside the Common Area during lunch (12:30-1:00 pm).
Prizes await the bold: $40 for first place, $20 for second, and a mix of sweets and treats for third, along with trophies for the winners of four categories: Best Overall, Funniest, and Creepiest. There will also be a Best Teacher Costume category to encourage staff to join the fun.
This contest marks CORE Insider’s first-ever event since the publication was founded last year, and the winners will be decided by student votes through our website, the same site where this article is posted. So make sure to bring your friends, since their votes could make the difference.
Emiliano Garcia-Sarnoff, known to students as Mr. E, advisor of the CORE Insider, shared his excitement about the event: “I am very excited that the CORE Insider is hosting its first contest! Part of our mission is to celebrate what we do on campus and the creativity of our student body.”
Students are reminded to follow the CORE Butte dress code when choosing costumes. Please avoid anything excessively gory, and while masks may be worn during the contest, they cannot be worn throughout the regular school day, as students must remain recognizable.
For any further questions about costume guidelines or contest rules, please comment them on this post.
So mark your calendar, and be there or be square!
