CORE Butte’s volleyball teams hit the court this week in a series of competitive matches.
The JV team opened the night against Hamilton. The first set was super fast and intense, but ended in a loss. The second set was neck to neck, with great passes and energy from CORE Butte, but they came up just short once again. Hamilton won the match 2–0, with set scores of 25–15 and 25–15. Despite the outcome, the JV team played with focus and effort. They showed strong communication and defensive plays throughout the match. “Our JV team played pretty well,” said Devon. “Losing sucks pretty bad, but we will get another dub.”
Varsity ended the night with a standout performance against Las Plumas. In the first set, CORE Butte’s defense was really strong. The Thunderbirds ended up calling a timeout. “They called it because of our defensive plays,” Devon said. CORE Butte went on to win that set 25–12.
The second set was more competitive, but the team stayed sharp and took it 25–20. The final set showed complete control from CORE Butte, ending in a 25–10 victory to sweep the match 3–0.
While Varsity walked away with a big win, both teams showed determination and teamwork, and everyone played really well overall.
