Last night was a good one for our volleyball teams as both JV and Varsity came away with wins over the Los Molinos Bulldogs.
The JV squad set the score early, battling through two tight sets to take the match 2–0. Strong serving and steady defense helped CORE Butte close it out and pick up their fifth win of the season.
Varsity followed up with a 3–1 victory, continuing the team’s hot streak. They jumped ahead quickly, winning the first two sets 25–12 and 25–10. Los Molinos answered back in the third, sneaking out a 25–20 win, but CORE Butte finished the job in the fourth with 25–23. Players Macey Ascherman and Mara Gonzalez led the way for the Lynx. Ascherman finished with nine digs, four aces, and two blocks, while Gonzalez added 11 digs and five aces. As a team, CORE Butte racked up 16 aces on the night, keeping the Bulldogs on their heels.
With both JV and Varsity pulling wins, CORE Butte volleyball continues to show they’re one of the stronger programs around. Up next, Varisty faces Chester on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
