Last Friday, the CORE Butte cross country team competed in the annual Clam Beach Invitational at Clam Beach State Park. Facing strong programs from across the region, they came away with standout individual finishes and a top-three team result.
On the girls’ side, senior Brianna Hayes set the pace for CORE Butte, winning the varsity race in first place with a time of 20:09.31. The team placed third overall with 66 points. Supporting Hayes were Katelyn Copper (8th place, 23:28), Amanda Mabie (21st place, 25:20), Katelyn Merrick (23rd place, 25:23), and Eliana Feather (38th place, 27:31).
In the boys’ varsity race, senior Adrik Dyer crossed the line in 23rd place at 19:14, representing CORE Butte in a deep field.
The JV race brought another highlight as sophomore Luke Schooling claimed first place with a time of 18:25.61.
The team made for a solid day and looks ready to keep building as the season goes on.

Let’s go CBXC!
I was disappointed that I could not see the race myself, much less race in most of them, but our team really killed it! This team is really stacked, when you think about it. Especially Luke and Bri.
(In a previous meet, Bri placed 4th, but with the boys! Now that’s what I call determination.)
