Following the ribbon cutting and soccer game, CORE Butte volleyball closed out the day with home matches against Redding Christian High School. Both JV and Varsity played hard, but the night ended with Redding Christian taking both games.
The JV team started strong, pulling out a 25–22 win in the opening set. Redding Christian evened things up with a 25–22 win of their own, and the deciding third set went to them 15–11. The final tally gave Redding Christian the edge 2–1, but CORE Butte showed good work and energy throughout.
Varsity followed, and while they couldn’t quite find their rhythm, they kept fighting through three competitive sets. Redding Christian came away with the win 3–0 (25–17, 25–12, 25–18).
Playing without setter Macey Ascherman made the matches more challenging. Afterward, a CORE Butte player noted, “That left us trying to figure it out, but we are still making progress. We are a good team, and we have wins ahead of us.”
Although the results weren’t what they had hoped for, both teams emphasized growth and look forward to bouncing back in their next matches.
