The CORE Butte varsity volleyball team put up a tough fight on the road Wednesday night, taking Redding Christian to five sets before narrowly falling 3-2.
The match scores were 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 23-25, and 11-15, showing just how close the teams were from start to finish. CORE came out strong, taking the first two sets with sharp defense and consistent hitting. However, Redding Christian found their rhythm in the third and fourth sets, tying the match 2-2 and forcing a decisive fifth. The Lynx held tight early, but the Lions managed to pull ahead late to close it out 15-11.
Despite the loss, CORE showed grit and improvement from their last meeting with Redding Christian, where they were swept 3-0. The loss brings CORE’s overall record to 17-7 (5-2 in league play), while Redding Christian improves to 21-8-3 (7-0 league).
The Lynx will look to bounce back tonight at home for Senior Night, marking their final regular-season game before heading into postseason play.
