Are you tired of the same few, rocky, bumpy mountain bike trails in Chico? Well, a new mountain biking park is coming to Chico. This project is a collaboration between Chico Velo and the Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD). The pictures shown are renderings of what the bike park will look like.
I was able to contact CARD and I ask a question on why they decided to build the bike park. “Chico is a bike town,” Said a representative “This project provided CARD the chance to fully realize that identity by supporting the creation of an incredibly exciting, unique, and spectacular parks for the community to enjoy.”
The Chico Bike Park (CBP) is going to be a place for mountain bikers of any skill level, with multiple courses to practice and perfect their skills. This six-acre park will have off-road courses that include jumps, ramps, and wooden rails.
This park will not just be for bikes. It will also be a park for the whole community to enjoy, with a playground, picnic area, dog park and a food truck lot. Despite the man made aspects of the CBP will still capture the natural feel of a forest. According to the Chico Velo website, this park will be near the Marsh Junior High School on Humboldt Road between Forest Avenue and Notre Dame Boulevard. This $5 million project is entirely funded by the Lupine Legacy Foundation. The estimated opening day is at the end of 2026 no date to be announced.
