Here’s how CORE cross country did at West Valley Coed Invitational earlier today:
CORE Butte was led by senior Brianna Hayes, who took 2nd in the girls varsity race in 19:17.49 and set the tone for a solid team day. Backing her up were seniors Katelyn Copper (19th, 22:52.14), Amanda Mabie (37th, 24:25.36), Katelyn Merrick (39th, 24:32.53), and Eliana Feather (56th, 26:04.44). With that pack, CORE Butte finished 5th in the girls team standings with 105 points in a field that included Foothill (winner) and University Prep.
On the boys side, senior Adrik Dyer cracked the top 20 in the varsity race, placing 17th in 18:02.22. Sophomore Luke Schooling was close behind in 22nd at 18:14.89. CORE Butte did not factor into the boys team scoring but came away with two strong individual results up front.
In the JV boys 2.2-mile race, freshman Lance Tennis grabbed the runner-up spot in 13:47.59, and freshman Josiah Haselton finished 19th in 14:47.75 to round out the day for CORE Butte.
