CORE is a school with a wide variety of students who participate in many different activities, including how they spend their free time. A large number of them enjoy playing video games. Whether on Xbox, PlayStation, computer, or another device, most students play games in some form. One of the most common debates across gaming platforms is whether PlayStation or Xbox is better.
The CORE Insider asked 51 students which console they preferred between Xbox and PlayStation and why. The results showed that 27 students preferred Xbox, while 19 preferred PlayStation.
Among students who favored PlayStation, many mentioned the controller, saying it feels more comfortable and easier to use. Several students, including some who chose Xbox, also said PlayStation has better graphics. When asked about their choice, senior Fletcher Parish stated that “PlayStation definitely has better exclusives.”
On the Xbox side, a number of students brought up the Xbox 360, a console released in 2005, noting that it was the system they grew up playing and felt nostalgic about. Senior Dorian Dietz said that Xbox is “better managed and is way harder to hack,” referring to Microsoft’s security around the Xbox platform.
Some students said they had never played either console, could not choose between the two, or preferred playing on a computer instead. Overall, while students had different preferences, the results show that CORE Butte students slightly favor Xbox.
