“UFC Freedom 250” is an up and coming UFC fight card that will be taking place at the White House for the very first time. The fight card is planned for June 14th, in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, as well as Donald Trump’s 80th birthday. It will take place on the White House’s south lawn. The event–a cage fight at the White House during a time of war–has generated some serious controversy.
“I’m super excited to watch it,” said Mrs. Cordova, who is well-known among teachers for her epic UFC watch parties. “I think it will go down as one of the best fight cards in UFC history.”
The reason Mrs. Cordova and others have high hopes for this card is due to the big name fighters like Alex Pereira, Sean Omally, Diego Lopez, and Michael Chandler who will be featured in the main event. The title fight will be Ilia Tipoura (the lightweight champion) versus Justin Gaethje, a first rank fighter who has maintained a top five ranking in the lightweight division since his debut. “Don’t blink or start fixing your hair,” Touporia said in a recent interview “Because it’s going to be over quickly.” Touporia’s threats have proven predictive. He made a similar statement last June when fighting for the title and dominated with a nasty knockout in the first round.
UFC announcer Joe Rogan, shared his feelings on the match, questioning the security as well as added pressure on the fighters. The White House has had two assassination attempts in the last month alone. Obviously, these conditions and recent events raise big concerns about the event’s safety. On top of this, the fight will take place outdoors, adding the aspect of having to fight out in the hot sun.
CORE Butte senior Jack Mchugh questions Trump’s priorities. “What has the presidency come to? If we have people trying to assassinate the president, why is he worried about having a UFC fight at the White House?” This situation is definitely out of the ordinary, a surreal spectacle that feels perfectly matched to our times. “It’s an opportunity for men from every country around the world to come together for one event; I don’t think there’s anything politically wrong with that, I think that’s good,” Mrs. Cordova proposes. Some are excited, some confused. However you feel, it will definitely be worth tuning in for, you might even say it is “must watch TV.”
