Cal Skate is an amusement center not too far from CORE that features batting cages, mini golf, and – their best attraction – a skating rink.
Every fourth Tuesday of every month, Cal Skate holds a special event that they call Christian Skate Night. In many regards, it is just like any other night there; the arcade games are pumping out tickets you can turn in for prizes, the snack bar is serving nachos, hotdogs and neon blue slushies, and there are skating rink games like Red Light/Green Light and “The Dice Game.” But for this event, the DJs play all sorts of popular Christian songs, and lots of churches with their youth groups come to hang out and skate.
Even if you are not a fan of skating, you can still play some air hockey or just chill. It is a great way to meet like-minded Christians teens in the area, and to skate knowing (and your parents knowing) that inappropriate pop-songs with crude or suggestive lyrics will not be not present.
