CORE Butte track & field competed at the MVL Championship Meet on May 8 at Trinity High School, where they achieved multiple league championships and top finishes!
Senior Brianna Hayes led the meet with four varsity wins, taking first in the 400 meters in 1:00.14, the 800 meters in 2:24.52, the 1600 meters in 5:21.95, and the 3200 meters in 11:58. Senior Amanda Mabie and senior Katelyn Copper added strong distance finishes, placing second and third in the 1600 and scoring in multiple events.
Junior Julia Spears placed second in the 100 meters and 200 meters and won the long jump at 16 feet, 5.5 inches. Senior Karisa Walborn placed third in the 100 meter hurdles, won the triple jump and placed second in the long jump. Sophomore Taylee Aars placed third in the long jump and second in the triple jump. Senior Apple Bolton won the discus and placed second in the high jump.
On the boys side, senior Brian Patton placed second in the 800 meters and junior Samuel Boian placed third. Sophomore Luke Schooling placed fourth in the 3200 and fifth in the 1600. Junior Elijah Hastain placed sixth in the 200 meters and ninth in the 100. Junior Carsten Balint placed fourth in both hurdle events and added a third-place finish in the long jump.
The CORE Butte boys junior varsity group added multiple wins. Freshman Lance Tennis won the 800 meters and 3200 meters and placed second in the 1600. Freshman Zachary Trinca won the 1600. Sophomore Joshua Iler won the 110 meter hurdles, while sophomore Ben Feather won the 300 meter hurdles. The boys junior varsity 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams both placed first.
For the girls junior varsity team, freshman Gabriella Jarvis won both the 100 meters and 200 meters, and sophomore Serina Rogers won the 400 meters and 800 meters. Freshman Brielle Balint won shot put and sophomore Daisy Kammerer won discus.
