In CORE Butte’s third-ever home soccer game, the Lynx fought hard against the Paradise Adventist Cougars, but to no avail.

The first half of the game kicked off at 4:00 pm with a single sharp blow of a whistle. A particularly feisty midfielder from the Cougars gave the Lynx some trouble with some tricky movements of his arms that threw our central players off balance. The opposing team scored goals in roughly ten-minute intervals, the half ending with a score of 4-0.
After a quick halftime, and getting some water and strategic words of encouragement from coaches Chris Spears and Jason Jueckstock, the team went back in to face the Cougars at 4:50.
With renewed energy, they stopped quite so many goals from getting through, and made several hopeful-looking plays which Paradise Adventist’s neon-orange-clad keeper ultimately thwarted. The last whistle blew, and the team returned to their tent with a score of 7-0.
After the game, spirits were understandably pretty low, and comments such as “we’re cooked” and “It’s over” were prevalent among the dejected players.
“It’s not that we didn’t have enough intensity; we had a different environment today and lost our play awareness,” said midfielder Ben Feather.
Overall, the CORE Butte soccer team brought the energy, but it’s difficult to take so many defeats in a row without losing morale. Still, the team maintains a hopeful outlook as they take on Loyalton at 4:00 pm at home next Tuesday.
