The CORE Butte soccer team battled hard earlier today but came up short in a 4-0 loss to Quincy in the second round of the Pioneer League playoffs.
CORE trailed 1-0 at halftime but kept the game competitive through most of the match, showing strong effort and improved ball movement. Quincy capitalized on their scoring chances in the second half to pull away late.
Head Coach Chris Spears said he was proud of the team’s performance despite the result. “The kids played hard,” Spears said. “We played one of our better games this season, but the other team capitalized on chances where we fell short.”
The loss moves CORE Butte out of the main playoff bracket, but the team’s effort and growth were clear in what Spears called one of their strongest outings of the season.
