If the Lynx and Panthers were to find recourse to battle in the wilderness, so too has this sally drawn to a close: on Thursday last, University Prep’s Panthers defeated the Lynx in straight sets, 3-0. The first game presaged the “sweep,” in the paltry showing of 9-25; the Lynx fared better in the second and third games, 21-25 and 16-25, respectively, but posterity shall but recall we were set to naught, and so such contests are ultimately fruitless to the lay-fan. Not so to the team, though: University Prep revels and rolls in something of a hot streak, winning thirteen out of their fourteen past games, and, since our fair posse managed to maintain a competitive tension, there is reason to maintain—beyond the starry-eyed blatherings of the fideist—that they rendered the terminus a sweet one. The Lynx finish their season ranked third in the 2025 Northern Section CIF Volleyball Playoffs, closing out one of their strongest seasons to date, with a record of 18-8.
Player Apple Bolton commented on the match: “I’m really proud of how we played against UPrep. They’re a strong, competitive team, and I think we held our own – especially in the second set. It was a great way to finish the season. I’m so grateful for the amazing group of girls I got to play with this year, and a big thank-you to (Coach) Kelsey and (Mrs) Haas for all the time and effort they put into coaching us. Thanks also to all the students who came out and supported us – it means a lot!”
