CORE hosted its first Trivia Night on Nov. 20 with roughly 50 students in attendance. The night started off with ASB advisor Kirsten Frudden leading a five-round game of “Media Madness Trivia”. Students had to guess the correct answers for five categories of media-related questions. Students formed groups and named their teams as follows: Starburst, The Little Rascals, Team Kyden, Beanie Greeny, Sparkle Sprinkles, Hot Ramen, Rambunctious Raccoons, and The Divorced Houseguys. The games elicited excited shouting, laughter, competitiveness, outbursts of singing, and even reenactments of movies.
Mrs. Frudden enjoyed making the game, “I love entertainment and movies, so I had more fun than I think I should have,” Frudden said.
After “Media Madness,” Moriah Henderson led out in a game of Jeopardy, which resulted in the Rambunctious Raccoons winning by one point after outbidding Beanie Greeny in a final Jeopardy tie-breaker. Queen’s song “We Are the Champions” was played by the winning team in celebration.
The final game was Teacher Trivia. Each group huddled together around a quiz on one team member’s phone and tried to guess which bizarre fact belonged to which teacher.
The students in attendance looked forward to Trivia Night for various reasons. Many students looked forward to socializing with their peers. Other students really enjoyed the opportunity to be competitive and show off their knowledge. Some were even excited to have the opportunity to learn new things.
“I enjoy fueling our competitive spirit into a team while playing trivia,” junior Faith Rash said.
Junior Carsten Balint looked forward to winning, “I’m really looking forward to destroying my competition.”
“I’m competitive, so I want a place to compete and hang out with my best friends,” said sophomore Madi Morris.
Sophomore Miyuto Aoyagi looked forward to “Learning new things, I was kind of interested to see what I didn’t know.”

The night ended with teams competing in Minute to Win It games to score more points. After all of the scores were totaled, Rambunctious Raccoons came in first with 17 points. Beanie Greenie was second with 14 points, and there was a three-way tie for third place between Starbursts, Sparkle Sprinkles, and Hot Ramen; all with 7 points.
