On Tuesday, February 3, the CORE Butte basketball teams traveled to Chester High School for a league road matchup against the Chester Volcanoes in conference play.
JV (3:00 p.m.)
Our JV basketball team was defeated by Chester, 58-29. Chester controlled the game on their home court and outscored CORE Butte across all four quarters. The loss dropped CORE Butte’s JV record to 0-10 overall and 0-6 in league play. Chester improved to 9-4 on the season and remains strong in the standings.
GV (4:30 p.m.)
The girls varsity basketball team also came up short with a final score of 63-20. Chester built an early lead and went into halftime ahead 34-14, and they maintained this control throughout the second half. CORE Butte’s GV record moves to 7-8 overall and 1-5 in league play. Chester extends its winning streak to three games and improves to 20-4 on the season.
BV (6:00 p.m.)
In the final game of the night, the varsity boys lost 70-51 to Chester. After trailing early, CORE Butte showed improved scoring in the middle quarters but was unable to close the gap. The loss marks this team’s 19th straight defeat, dropping their record to 0-19 overall and 0-6 in league play. Chester improved to 13-11 on the season with the win.
All three CORE Butte teams will play again this Friday at home, starting at 3:00 p.m.
