The CORE Butte softball team dropped its third game of the season on Friday, Mar. 13. They lost 15-3 to the Chester Volcanoes during the Maxwell Tournament in Chester.
Chester quickly started the game with 13 runs in the first inning, compared to CORE’s two runs, creating a large gap that the Lynx was unable to overcome. CORE added one run in the second inning. Chester added two more runs in the third to secure their 15-3 victory.
Some later innings were not recorded, but the early scoring surge from Chester decided the game. The loss moves the CORE Butte softball team’s record to 0-3 for the season, while Chester improved to 2-2 overall.
Junior Faith Rash (#41) led the team this game with a .500 batting average, .500 on-base percentage, and .500 slugging percentage.
The two teams will meet again later this season in April. But, meanwhile, CORE will continue the Maxwell tournament with a game today on the 14th.
