On April 15, CORE Butte hosted its second-ever track meet. As always, our track and field team finished strong across all events.
In the boys sprints, junior Elijah Hastain placed fourth in the varsity 100 meters in 12.27, Bradly Breevaart placed fifth in 13.61 and Izaijah Bass placed sixth in 15.87. In the junior varsity 100, sophomore Jaxson Lea won first place in a personal best 12.56, followed by Gavin McGarr in third (13.35), Austin Patane in fourth (13.67), Nathan Hernandez in fifth (13.69), and Ruben Santos Stroup in sixth (13.95).
In the boys 200 meters, senior Brian Patton placed second in the varsity race in 24.60, with Elijah Hastain in fourth (24.69) and Samuel Boian in fifth (25.35). In the junior varsity 200, Jaxson Lea placed first in 25.69, Zachary Trinca finished fourth (27.88), Ruben Santos Stroup fifth (28.92), Austin Patane sixth (29.02), and Nathan Hernandez seventh (29.08).
In the boys 400 meters, Brian Patton placed first in 53.86, and Samuel Boian placed second in 55.16. Luke Schooling finished fourth in 58.94, and Caleb Lezzeni placed fifth in 1:05.30.
In the boys 800 meters, senior Adrik Dyer placed first in the varsity race with a personal best 2:20.02, and Caleb Lezzeni placed third in 2:32.78. In the junior varsity 800, Lance Tennis placed first in 2:25.74.
In the boys 1600 meters, CORE Butte’s top finish came in the junior varsity race, where Ethan Gulbrandsen placed second in 5:35.40 and Max Rivera placed third in 5:42.62.
In the boys hurdles, junior Carsten Balint placed first in the varsity 110-meter hurdles in 19.17. In the junior varsity race, Cody Martin placed second in 21.14 and Max Rivera placed third in 22.53. Benjamin Feather placed first in the junior varsity 300-meter hurdles in 46.07.
In the boys relays, the CORE Butte varsity 4×400 team of Elijah Hastain, Samuel Boian, Luke Schooling, and Brian Patton placed first in 3:53.96. The junior varsity 4×100 team placed first in 52.51, and the junior varsity 4×400 team placed first in 4:29.99.
In the boys field events, Caleb Lezzeni placed fifth in varsity shot put with 31 feet 3 inches, while Izaijah Bass placed eighth (26 feet 11 inches) and Bradly Breevaart placed ninth (26 feet 1 inch). In discus, Bradly Breevaart placed fifth with 74 feet 1 inch, and Steiger Jacobsen placed seventh with 52 feet 11 inches. Carsten Balint placed second in varsity high jump at 4 feet 8 inches and added a fifth-place finish in long jump (15 feet 1 inch) and second place in triple jump (34 feet 11 inches).
For the CORE Butte girls sprints, the team saw major success in the varsity 200 meters, where Julia Spears placed first in 27.38 and Brianna Hayes placed second in 27.90. Katelyn Merrick placed fourth in 29.28, Amanda Mabie placed sixth in 30.83, and Eliana Feather placed eighth in 33.54. In the junior varsity 100, Gabriella Jarvis placed second in 14.51, followed by Clover Bailey in third (14.52) and Taylee Aars in fourth (14.88).
In the girls 400 meters, Brianna Hayes placed first in 1:00.77, while Amanda Mabie placed fourth in 1:09.16 and Eliana Feather placed sixth in 1:16.05.
In the girls distance races, Apple Bolton placed fourth in the varsity 800 meters in 2:58.43.
In the girls hurdles, Karisa Walborn placed second in the varsity 100 hurdles in 18.05, and Zoe Newton placed third in the 300 hurdles in 1:02.53.
In the girls relays, the CORE Butte junior varsity 4×100 team of Clover Bailey, Taylee Aars, Maggie Boian, and Gabriella Jarvis placed first in 56.77.
In the girls throws, Macey Layfield placed first in the varsity shot put with 30 feet 3.25 inches, while Apple Bolton placed third (24 feet 1.75 inches), Katie Schneider placed fourth (21 feet 9 inches), and Emma Bowles placed fifth (21 feet 5.25 inches). In discus, Apple Bolton placed first with 94 feet, Karisa Walborn placed second with 65 feet 3 inches, Katie Schneider placed fifth with 60 feet 8 inches, Emma Bowles placed seventh with 59 feet, Bella Haselton placed eighth with 52 feet 11 inches, and Katelyn Merrick placed 10th with 39 feet 8 inches.
In the girls jumps, Apple Bolton placed first in varsity high jump at 4 feet 6 inches, and Bella Haselton placed third at 4 feet 2 inches. In long jump, Julia Spears placed first with 16 feet 2 inches, Karisa Walborn placed second with 14 feet 7.75 inches, Macey Layfield placed third with 13 feet 7.5 inches, Elizabeth Jueckstock placed fifth with 11 feet 11 inches, and Bella Haselton placed sixth with 11 feet 7 inches. In triple jump, CORE “swept” the varsity event, with Karisa Walborn placing first at 31 feet 11 inches, Katelyn Merrick second at 28 feet 11 inches, Elizabeth Jueckstock third at 27 feet 2.5 inches, and Bella Haselton fourth at 24 feet 3 inches.
