CORE Butte track & field competed at the NS Division 3 Finals on May 15. There, they won multiple section titles and finishes.
Senior Brianna Hayes led the girls team with wins in the 400 meters, 800 meters, and 3200 meters. Brianna Hayes ran a personal-best 1:00.01 in the 400, won the 800 in 2:24.70, and took first in the 3200 in 12:26.53. Senior Amanda Mabie added a win in the 1600 meters in 5:52.59 and placed fourth in the 800.
Junior Julia Spears won the long jump with a personal-best 17 feet, 2.5 inches, placed fifth in the 100 meters, and fourth in the 200 meters. Senior Karisa Walborn won the triple jump with a personal-best 34 feet, 4.25 inches, and placed fifth in the long jump. Senior Apple Bolton placed second in discus, third in high jump, and fourth in long jump.
The CORE Butte girls varsity 4×400 relay team of senior Ashlynn Hayes, senior Katelyn Merrick, junior Julia Spears, and senior Brianna Hayes won in 4:17.36. Senior Ashlynn Hayes also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles.
On the boys side, sophomore Luke Schooling won the varsity 3200 meters in 10:56.66. Senior Brian Patton placed third in the varsity 800 meters, junior Samuel Boian placed sixth in the 800, and senior Adrik Dyer placed third in the 1600 with a personal-best 4:58.47.
Junior Elijah Hastain placed fifth in the varsity 200 meters, while junior Carsten Balint placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles, seventh in the 300-meter hurdles, eighth in the long jump, and seventh in the triple jump.
JV boys: Sophomore Joshua Iler won the 110-meter hurdles with a personal best and placed second in the 300-meter hurdles. Sophomore Ben Feather won the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best. The boys junior varsity 4×100 relay team of sophomore Jaxson Lea, sophomore Gavin McGarr, sophomore Joshua Iler, and sophomore Ben Feather placed first, while the 4×400 relay team placed second.
Sophomore Jaxson Lea won the junior varsity high jump with a personal-best 5 feet, 8 inches. Sophomore Gavin McGarr won the junior varsity long jump with a personal-best 18 feet, 7 inches, and won the triple jump at 37 feet, 10.75 inches. Freshman Lance Tennis placed second in the JV 800, fourth in the 1600, and won the 3200 with a personal best.
For the girls junior varsity team, freshman Gabriella Jarvis won both the 100 meters and 200 meters. Sophomore Clover Bailey placed sixth in the 100 and third in the 200. Sophomore Serina Rogers placed second in the 400, third in the 800, and fifth in the long jump.
In the throws, junior Macey Layfield placed second in varsity shot put with a personal best. Freshman Brielle Balint placed second in JV shot put and second in JV discus, both with personal-best marks. Sophomore Daisy Kammerer placed third in JV shot put and won JV discus with a personal best.
