It was a busy weekend for the CORE Butte track and field team, as they played two meets back-to-back: The West Valley Invitational on April 24 and the Sacramento Meet of Champions on April 25. The team recorded the following results, with the majority coming from West Valley and one from Sacramento.
In the boys sprints, junior Elijah Hastain placed eighth in the open 200 meters in a personal-best 23.95.
In the boys distance events, senior Brian Patton placed third in the invitational 800 in 2:01.78, and junior Samuel Boian placed sixth in a personal-best 2:05.12. Senior Adrik Dyer placed 13th in the 1600 in a personal-best 5:00.76 and second in the 3200 in a personal-best 11:27.22. Sophomore Luke Schooling placed 18th in the invitational 1600 in 4:53.55 and 11th in the invitational 3200 in 10:42.99.
In the boys hurdles and relays, junior Carsten Balint placed 11th in the invitational 110-meter hurdles in 19.20. The varsity 4×400 relay team of Samuel Boian, Luke Schooling, Brian Patton, and Elijah Hastain placed 10th in 3:44.40.
In the boys field events, Carsten Balint placed 23rd in long jump with 18 feet 2.5 inches and tied for 21st in triple jump at 36 feet. Sophomore Gavin McGarr placed 12th in triple jump with a personal-best 38 feet 1.25 inches.
For the girls sprints, junior Julia Spears placed third in the invitational 200 in a personal-best 26.95. In the open 200, sophomore Clover Bailey placed 32nd in a personal-best 30.08, and freshman Gabriella Jarvis placed 34th in 30.28.
In the girls distance events, sophomore Serina Rogers placed 14th in the open 800 in a personal-best 2:45.70, and senior Eliana Feather placed 22nd in 2:53.08. In the invitational 800, senior Katelyn Merrick placed 12th in 2:39.88, and senior Amanda Mabie placed 14th in 2:42.58. Amanda also placed 11th in the invitational 1600 in a personal-best 5:49.52, while senior Katelyn Copper placed 16th in a personal-best 5:56.57. In the invitational 3200, Katelyn placed 13th in 13:56.27, and Eliana placed 19th in a personal-best 14:53.65.
In the girls hurdles, senior Ashlynn Hayes placed seventh in the invitational 100 hurdles in 17.79 and seventh in the 300 hurdles in a personal-best 49.69. Senior Karisa Walborn placed 10th in the 100 hurdles.
In the girls relays and field events, the 4×100 team of Clover Bailey, Gabriella Jarvis, Brianna Hayes, and Julia Spears placed third in 53.83. Junior Macey Layfield placed 11th in shot put with 29 feet 2 inches. In long jump, Julia placed seventh (15 feet 8.5 inches), Karisa placed 13th (15 feet 2 inches), and sophomore Taylee Aars tied for 17th with a personal-best 14 feet 11 inches. In triple jump, Karisa placed fifth with a personal-best 32 feet 8.5 inches, Taylee placed 10th (30 feet 9.75 inches), and junior Elizabeth Jueckstock tied for 25th (27 feet 10 inches).
At the Sacramento Meet of Champions, senior Brianna Hayes placed sixth in the open 800 in 2:18.59 and ninth in the open 1600 in 4:59.74.
