The CORE Butte softball team fell to Los Molinos 25-3 in a home conference game on April 24.
Los Molinos made three runs in the first inning and extended it with eight in the second and 11 in the third. CORE Butte broke through in the third inning with all three of its runs, but was unable to keep pace the rest of the way.
Junior Mara Gonzalez led the team at the plate, going 2 for 3 with two stolen bases. Senior Zoe Newton added a hit and an RBI, and Eva Olivo and Emma Bowles each drove in a run. The Lynx finished with 3 runs on 3 hits and drew nine walks.
In the circle, CORE had Mara and Faith Rash bring five innings against a Los Molinos lineup that recorded 18 hits. Defensively, the Lynx committed four errors.
CORE Butte moves to 0-15 on the season and will face Chester in its next game, which is scheduled to happen on Tuesday.
